Beyond excitement that together with Dr. Elisa Bandini, we won this year’s Early Career Award from the Einstein Foundation promoting quality in research. The Award of €100,000 goes to our ARI (Ape Research Index) project. This project gives us a chance to investigate how previous experience affect chimpanzees’ cognitive performance, and we aim to build a database for our research community where specific chimpanzee’s research experience history is documented. Thereby researchers can account for this possible effect when addressing their particular research questions. We see this as an important contribution for a field of research on a species, where we know that cognitive skills build upon previous learning opportunities.
