Chimpanzee Problem Solving

New Article – chimpanzee problem solving skills

Check out my new article in PeerJ, where I study variation in problem-solving skills in chimpanzees. These brand-new results remind me of the wonderful opportunity I had to spend a month at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary at Ngamba Island in Uganda, engaging on a daily basis with these incredible strong personalities. Many thanks to my collaborator Christine Hrubesch who performed all the cognitive experiments at Leintalzoo in Germany. Put together our results show that in apes cognitive skills are influenced by the living environment, prior experiences and human exposure as well as how early in life infants arrive into the foster care provided by sanctuaries.
